A comprehensive study for identification of vibrant FPO clusters for effective market integration

The report covers a field study conducted from May 2018 to January 2019 covering 49 Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) clusters and 45 agriculture value chains across 52 districts in 18 states. This was followed by an intensive analysis of the data, and discussions with market players and other stakeholders. The report is further backed by 49 FPO cluster-level reports which span 1,800 FPOs and 399 market players.

This study was meant to identify the potential FPO clusters, with specific focus on production quality, volumes and the presence of market players. The study therefore covers business transactions between FPOs and market players. After a detailed iterative process, the study recommends nine clusters – namely Amravati, Nagpur, Tehri, Dahod, Chittoor, Kolar, Tumkur, Nashik, Mayurbhanj and Kamrup. These clusters have good presence of market players, and require minimum external support to enable FPOs to be sustainable.
